Trust

Why you can trust this site

“Scripture + sources, no spin.”

On This Rock exists for one reason: to show what Christian traditions actually teach — as those traditions describe it themselves — so curious readers, small groups, and church leaders can compare honestly instead of arguing from caricatures. This page is our method, in the open.

Method

How each position is written

Three rules govern every topic page on this site.

1

In its own words

Each position is stated in the tradition’s own categories and terms — Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Reformed, and the rest each speak for themselves. No tradition is paraphrased by a rival, and none is presented as the standard the others are measured against.

2

From official documents only

Positions are summarized from the tradition’s own confessional sources: catechisms, confessions, councils, and official denominational statements. Commentary about a tradition is never substituted for the tradition’s own voice.

3

Every claim linked to its source

Every position carries its citations with it. Each claim about what a tradition teaches links out to the primary source it comes from, so you can read further and verify it yourself.

What the review badge means

Initial releaseUnder theological review

Every topic page on this site currently carries this badge. It means the page has been published for early review — Initial release — under theological review. Positions summarize official denominational sources; named reviewers from each tradition are being onboarded.

In plain terms: the content is live so readers and reviewers can examine it, but it has not yet been through clergy review. We label it that way on purpose. If you spot an error in how a tradition is represented, every page is an invitation to flag it — and named reviewers from each tradition are being onboarded to correct the record.

Our commitment

The clergy-review gate

Before this content is launched to parishioners, every topic goes to ministers, priests, and pastors for review.

That is a commitment, not a completed fact. We will not present On This Rock as parish-ready — for bulletins, classes, or small groups — until clergy from the traditions covered have read the content and had the chance to correct it. Until that review is complete, the initial-release badge stays on.

Neutrality

No ranking. No winners.

Neutrality here means process, not approval: every comparison follows the same rules, for every tradition, every time.

  • All six traditions are shown on every topic — always. None is hidden, minimized, or folded into another.

  • Positions are never ranked. We do not declare winners, award points, or present any tradition as the default.

  • Nothing here is endorsed or approved by any church or tradition — and we say so plainly wherever it matters.
