Terms of Service

On This Rock is an informational website that presents how Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant Christian traditions understand selected Scripture passages and theological topics — side by side, with each position described from its own sources.

To use premium features you need an account. You agree to provide an accurate email address, keep your sign-in link or credentials private, and notify us if you believe your account has been compromised. You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to create an account.

Plans. We offer a free plan and paid plans (Individual and Church & Group), as described on our pricing page. Prices are in USD and may change; we will notify paying subscribers before any price change takes effect.

Billing. Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan) through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your chosen payment method.

Cancellation. You can cancel anytime from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then, and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods unless required by law.

Free trials and changes. We may offer trials or promotional pricing at our discretion, and we may change or discontinue plans with reasonable notice.

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to access other users' accounts, or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems.
• Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy content for republication or to build a competing dataset.
• Misrepresent the service's content as endorsed or approved by any church, denomination, or tradition.
• Harass, threaten, or harm others through the service, including in any community features we may add.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

The site's design, summaries, and presentation are owned by On This Rock and protected by intellectual property law. You may read, quote briefly with attribution, and share links for personal, educational, or ministry use. You may not republish substantial portions of the site, resell access, or remove attribution. Source materials linked from the site belong to their respective publishers and are subject to their own terms.

Informational only. All content on On This Rock is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not pastoral, theological, or spiritual counsel, and it does not create a clergy–parishioner or counselor relationship of any kind. For personal matters of faith, consult a pastor, priest, or trusted teacher in your own tradition.

Not endorsed. Summaries are presented to describe each tradition's position fairly, but nothing on this site is endorsed, approved, or reviewed by the Catholic Church, any Orthodox jurisdiction, or any Protestant denomination unless a source explicitly says so.

Possible errors. Summaries may be assisted by artificial intelligence and human editors; despite our review process, they may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Always consult the linked sources — and the traditions' own authoritative documents — for definitive statements.

As-is. The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, On This Rock and its owner(s) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service — including reliance on any content for spiritual, personal, or ministry decisions. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing).

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date, and for material changes affecting paying subscribers we will provide notice by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
