do Catholics worship Mary

Catholics honor Mary with special devotion but distinguish this from the worship owed to God alone — a distinction Protestant traditions dispute. Most Protestant traditions in our comparison honor Mary as the mother of Jesus but do not practice Marian devotion or teach the Assumption. The Mary page presents each tradition’s teaching in its own words.
